With a Bachelor’s in Sociology, a Master’s in Interrelated Special Education, and a Specialist in Teacher Leadership, my personal and professional experiences continue to contribute to my desire to effect positive change with parent/family involvement in education.
Upon receiving my undergraduate degree, I spent my first five (5) years working in the social service arena as the Volunteer and Admissions Coordinator for a supplemental educational facility, a Youth Social Worker, and a Case Manager. These experiences have helped shape my foundational belief that everyone deserves a chance at success, no matter their circumstance.
I began my professional career in special education in 2001, while I simultaneously completed my graduate and post graduate degrees. My positions in the classroom and at the district level required flexibility, accountability, focus and diplomacy. I understand and continue to focus on the individual needs of students knowing that their learning style is a key component in helping them reach their full potential academically, emotionally, behaviorally, and socially.
